It’s a wrap! The Austrian Project Management Championship (PMC) final is done!

On Saturday, February 27, 2021, the national Project Management Championship (PMC) finals took place in Austria for the second time.

The Project Management Championship (PMC) is a competition in which students can demonstrate their project management skills. Since September, teams have been able to register and qualify in the first round of the competition by means of an online assessment (consisting of 100 questions). The best teams competed against each other in the national final last Saturday and had three hours to work on a case study on the topic of “New Work”. The pma young crew, which organized the event, was able to win the internationally successful technology company Microsoft, represented by Florian Ferstl (Senior Project Manager, Microsoft EMEA), as sponsor for this. Under the eyes of a jury of experts from business and science, the teams presented their results.

While the jury analyzed and evaluated the results, the participants listened to an exciting and inspiring keynote by David Howe, General Manager EMEA, who has been with Microsoft for 18 years. He explained what really matters in project management and what a career in project management can look like.

Afterwards, Alexandra Kirbes, Chair of pma young crew Management Board, gave insights into the activities, workshops, and networking opportunities of the pma young crew and was thus able to motivate and engage new members.

Congratulations to all finalists and of course to the winners “The Pokemon Project”.

We are happy to announce the winning team “The Pokemon Project” from the FH of BFI Vienna. The team stood out especially for their focused and clear presentation of results and realistic assumptions in the project plan.

Second place went to “Black Jackets”, also a team from the FH of BFI Vienna. They scored particularly well with their structured approach and good teamwork. The third place on the podium went to the team “International Power” from the FH Kärnten, thanks to constructive cooperation and top flexibility in the case of unforeseeable changes to the plan.

The winning team will represent Austria at the international PMC finals in September 2021. We are also happy to welcome the team members as new pma young crew members in 2021. Welcome on board!

The award ceremony was followed by joint networking in three virtual rooms: “What I always wanted to know about Microsoft”, “Get to know the pma young crew” and “All about IPMA® certificates and how to get one”.

We are looking forward to next year!

The event was a great success and we are looking forward to cheering for our finalists in the international finals in September 2021. This fall, the PMC will enter the next round and the next generation of student teams may take up the challenge. As usual, more info can be found on our social media channels and the pma young crew website.

In this sense, many thanks to all participants, to the jury, and of course to our esteemed sponsor Microsoft. We are looking forward to next year!
